Double Helix, Pedestrian Bridges and Ping-Pong

Hooray, hooray, hooray! The tower is OPEN. FINALLY!!




It WAS scary, I'll admit it. The cables were humming, the wind was blowing hard and the tower was swaying more and more the higher up you went. I wasn't counting steps, I didn't notice getting breathless....or if my legs were tired. I was only paying close attention to looking somewhere that wouldn't end in a freak-out. Very head-wavy, this tower.


We made it to the top, we did it. Deliciously scary.....exhilarating!!

The tower is balanced on this ball...12" diameter....and held in place by cables....oh, and the bottom of two sets of stairs.

Note......Steve is holding on. Everyone was.

The look going down....

The poles in the distance hold cables for pedestrian suspension bridges. Several ramps go off every-which-way.....too complicated to photograph it all or describe....

Stuttgart makes it so easy to be a pedestrian! All sorts of bridges over busy roads and rivers. Traffic lights that make it easy to cross the street. Drivers that always yield to walkers. I love it.

The concrete bridge goes over a highway. The covered wooden bridge in the background goes over the river.

Ping-Pong tables can be found at various locations all around the city.

Now we have paddles that I carry around in my bag.
